February is an exciting month in Texas. While the cold is getting kicked up a notch so are festivities. There is a vast array of festivals, rodeos, and other fun events. We hope y'all enjoy and get out to explore some of our beautiful state!

 

Feb. 1- Feb. 17

San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo

San Angelo, TX

The sanctioned rodeo is open to cowboys and cowgirls across the world, featuring rough stock events such as bull riding, saddle bronc riding and bareback riding, plus timed events like team roping, tie-down roping, steer wrestling and women's barrel racing. The Stock Show provides an opportunity for youth across the state to participate in one of Texas' largest livestock shows. Additionally, this annual event includes a carnival exhibit hall and Kids' Korral.

Feb. 3

The Day the Music Died

Lubbock, TX

February 3 marks the anniversary of the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, J.P. Richardson (The Big Blooper) and pilot Roger Peterson. This date has affectionately been given the name "The Day the Music Died" by the Buddy Holly Center, after a lyric in the Don McLean song "American Pie." Patrons are invited to the Center to celebrate the life and legacy of Buddy Holly.

Art Trail in the Village

Lubbock, TX

 

Partnering with area schools, this shopping center showcases students artwork from area schools. Art Trail in the Village promotes confidence, creativity, dedication, patience, and school spirit with those students participating.

San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo

San Antonio, TX

 

Established in 1949, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo has grown to be one of the largest and most prestigious events in the city. Tickets into the PRCA Rodeo grant you access to the events (bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, etc.), concert performances, and fairground admission.

Scurry County Museum Chocolate Fest

Snyder, TX

 

Chocolate Fest features artists, live music, a silent auction and pairings and tastings of chocolate and wine. The event benefits the Scurry County Museum.

Wine Swirl 2019

21st Annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit

Brownwood, TX

 

The juried art exhibit (judged this year by Fort Worth artist Pat Gabriel) will include original 3D and 2D artworks from most disciplines, including painting, photography, digital/computer-generated art, sculpture, drawing, and print-making. On weekdays, three artists will explain and demonstrate their art. The event culminates with a presentation of awards and prizes.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

Houston, TX

 

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is the world's largest rodeo. Since its initial debute in 1932, they have hosted some of the most popular muscian of the time. From Elvis, to Reba, Taylor Swift, to George Strait. This year, that list will extend with Cardi B, Old Diminion, Brad Paisley, and George Strait again. Come out and support The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as they continue to support Texas youth, showcases Western heritage, and provide year-round educational support within the community.
