Welcome to the new year! We have some exciting events going on during the month of January. Start your year off right by getting out and exploring our great state!

January 1st

First Day Hike

All Trails

Your New Year's resolution to get outside and enjoy nature will get a great start on a First Day Hike at a State Park! They have trails for everyone. Ranging from one to two miles on average, but longer and shorter options available. So get out, get moving, and start this New Year on the right, or left foot.

January 2- 12

Sandhills Stock Show and Rodeo

Odessa, TX

The Sandhills Rodeo includes all of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) events: bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle-bronc riding, tie-down roping, bull riding, barrel racing and steer roping. So come on out and enjoy the show y'all!

The Hidden Dallas Tour

Dallas, TX

Annual Eagle Test

Emory, TX

In the "Eagle Capital of Texas," take bus and barge tours to area lakes to see bald eagles in their natural habitat. The festival includes bird and animal exhibits and programs, live entertainment and music, as well as educational speakers. Emorytx.com for more info.

January 22-26

Winter Outdoor Wildlife Expo

South Padre Island, TX

This five-day event features the unique resources of South Padre Island with a different focus for each day. Learn about the special environment, the Laguna Madre, the Gulf and fishing, the plants, butterflies and birds. Special raptor programs by Jonathan Woods. 49th Annual Mid-Tex Farm, Ranch & Garden Show

Waco, TX
